Project: Live On

What is Project: Live On?

The ability to create is something inherent in every single person in this existence.

Through everything we see and learn, we gestate our creations in hopes that they will persist and carry on long after we leave this corporeal plane. This is a substantial part of why we decided to start Clay Urn—to ensure your creations will be cherished, and will be there waiting for you in the next life.

But where does one begin? How do we conjure the energy to sprout the seed?

There is no universal answer, but this is ours.

Project: Live On is meant to symbolize bringing a thought into tangible existence through work, care, and energy—the very idea of nurturing creative growth, and to encourage and inspire others to do the same. With every order you place in our shop, or in every personal encounter you make with us, you will be given a handmade "LiveOn" seed card emblazoned with our mark, as shown above. Plant them in soil just as you would normal seeds, and watch as unique blends of wildflowers liven up your garden, home, office, or studio. With a bit of time and exchange of energy, we envision a flow of creative fuel to find its way to you.

The truth of the matter is this: Creative processes look and unfold differently for us all. And whether you’ve written your first or hundredth book, started a simple sketch or completed your magnum opus, played your first chord or composed a timeless classic—each endeavor begins with the first sprout of an idea.

So go forth, and #liveon.

Planting instructions:

  1. Soak: Soak the seed paper in water for 1–2 hours or overnight.
  2. Prepare the soil: Fill a pot with potting soil that's slightly compressed but not hard-packed. If planting in a garden, assign a designated spot for the seed paper in a bed or ground. Avoid places where squirrels dig.
  3. Plant: Place the seed paper on top of the soil and cover it with a thin layer of enriched soil, about 1/8 inch.
  4. Water: Water thoroughly and keep it moist, but avoid waterlogging, until seedlings are established. You can water twice a day during germination and then reduce watering to twice a week after small shoots appear.
  5. Give Plenty of Sunlight: Place the paper in a sunny spot.
  6. Anticipate: Germination can take 1–3 weeks, but you should see sprouts within 7–10 days.

What are our seed blends made of?

Introductory Batch: Botanical Interest's Songbird Delight Mix:

  • Polka Dot Mix Bachelor Button
  • Black-Eyed Susan
  • Purple Coneflower
  • Cosmos
  • Rigid Goldenrod
  • Love-Lies-Bleeding
  • African Marigold

*The seeds of Black Oil Sunflower, Safflower, Mexican Hat, Hard Red Spring Wheat, and Hybrid Pearl Millet were too large for the paper and were not included. Smaller seeds of these varieties may have passed through the sifting process.

Continuing Batches:

Hand-selected seed mix of the following seed paper-friendly seeds from Eden Brothers:

  • Blue Forget-Me-Nots
  • Poppy Mix
  • Cosmos Mix
  • Alyssum Magic Circle Mix

If you are concerned about planting only native species in your area, please check with your township before planting.

Each batch of seed paper is tested for germination. If, by chance, your seedlings do not germinate, please reach out to us via our contact form.
